I am excited to announce that next month I will be Polar Plunging for Special Olympics for the first time!
This is a big deal for me… because I hate the cold.
That aside… folks with special needs and abilities have always held a big place in my heart.
I remember back in high school… One Saturday morning… I was asked if I would like to volunteer for the day at a track meet.
What’s the job? I asked.
The guy in charge answered… “Just be there at the finish line to cheer folks on and be a hugger.”
I was inspired from that moment on to be a hugger whenever possible… and an encourager to all.
I’ll be jumping into frigid waters with Marion County’s Plunging Opi in Salem on Saturday, February 5.
I see now there are fundraising goals. Would love to shatter records and take the lead. Wouldn’t it be something if in a short amount of time… we raised more money than anyone else?
Please donate if you are able. Join a team… or form one if you feel inspired. Special Olympics has been getting it right for a very long time.
Encourage one another always… and hug as much as much as comfort and safety protocols will allow!
