It's Your Special Day

I woke up early. Made my way to the kitchen to feed the dog and to find some breakfast for myself. I realized immediately that I had forgotten to start the dishwasher the night before. It was packed! I added the soap and hit the button.

I went to the cupboard for a plate, not certain if there would be a single one left. It made me smile to find our Special Day Plate next in line. We use that one for birthdays and other occasions. In my mind it was not MY special day, so I humbly reached for the every-day-plate beneath it. Then it hit me, "Why not?!" "Why isn't it MY special day?" Really, every day is special. Of course, some days are better than others, but every day "special." I'm still here for a reason. I took the Special Day plate. I think we all should... at least once in a while.

Because God is who He is, every day is special and so are we.

Psalm 139:1-6 For the choir director: A psalm of David.1 O Lord, you have examined my heart
    and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up.
    You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel
    and when I rest at home.
    You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say
    even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me.
    You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too great for me to understand!
